We have formed a committee to commemorate the first 100 years of Crolf - the Crolf Centennial Committee, comprised of Chuck Thompson (Chair), Dave Cope, Peter Cope, Jo Kelley, and Jane Thompson.
The first Centennial events will take place on the July 4th weekend, starting with a special Crolf Centennial Tournament on Saturday, July 2, at 10:00 am.
We are working on a Crolf-history-themed tournament that morning. Participants are asked to wear 1916-appropriate attire. The 4th of July Picnic will be held on the ball field starting at 4:00 pm, with really big croquet/Crolf games, followed by brats cooked by Daryl Johnson and assistants, a Crolf Centennial cake, and a display of historical Crolf items. The association will be providing the brats, buns, condiments, lemonade, and coffee; and please supply a dish to pass, beverages, etc.
One of the unique things about LPS is the fact that the game of Crolf - now played in innumerable places around the world - originated right here at the Point in the yard of the Dr. Samuel A. Wilson cottage (now Luner) in 1916. This is a big event! Not many places can claim to be the originators of a new sport! LPS is “The Birthplace of Crolf.” Our course can be rightfully claimed to be “The World’s Home Course.”
Be looking for Crolf Centennial events, materials, and memorabilia all summer-long, as we celebrate, honor the founders, commemorate, enjoy, and promote our original game during this, the 2016 Summer of Crolf!
